Executive workshop: Energy in Africa, Nairobi 2026

The webinar raises the questions. The workshop works through them: three days of teaching and case work for senior people in the energy value chain, framed by a welcome cocktail dinner and a day in Nairobi National Park. Monday 30 November to Friday 4 December 2026.

  • The upstream sector. The PIA and its Amendment Bill, NUPRC and NCDMB, production sharing contracts, joint ventures and marginal fields, domestic gas and flaring, host communities, LNG
  • Midstream and downstream. NMDPRA, pipelines and gas infrastructure, refining, LPG and CNG, distribution and trading licences

  • Deal lab, part 2. Teams settle the offtake, regulatory approvals and revenue risks

Tax, fiscal terms and capital

  • From the webinar, then the fiscal regime. The Nigeria Tax Act 2025 and the fiscal regime by segment: upstream, gas, midstream and downstream, electricity
  • Transaction taxes, compliance and controversy. VAT, withholding tax, customs and stamp duties; permanent establishment risk; filing, reporting and IFRS; audits and dealing with the revenue authority
  • Investment and capital. JV and farm-in structures, project finance and DFI funding, foreign exchange and repatriation, transfer pricing, exit and divestment, dispute resolution and arbitration
  • What travels. Structuring cross-border energy investment within Africa
  • Deal lab presentations and close. Teams finance the transaction, price its tax cost, plan the exit and present to a faculty panel; action plans and certificates of attendance

The hotel sits in Nairobi's business and financial district, with conference rooms, restaurants and a pool on site. Residential delegates stay at the venue.

The park visit

Nairobi National Park is a wildlife reserve on the edge of the capital, with the city skyline as its backdrop. The Friday game drive is included in every registration package, and the week closes that evening with dinner at Carnivore. Tell us on the form if you will join.
